Junior Rangers

Become a City of Ocala Junior Ranger!

Open to kids 8-13 years old, this nine-part program will give an overview of wilderness skills, history, environmental stewardship, and Ranger knowledge to be able to take on the wild. Twice a month, students will meet with City of Ocala Park Rangers and learn about a new topic. Junior Rangers will leave each workshop with a take-home item that relates to the subject matter learned. At the end of the program there will be a family camp-out inside Fort King National Historic Landmark to showcase all the skills that the Junior Rangers learned. Parents/guardians must sign their kids up for the entire program, each workshop builds on the other. $65.00 for the entire program.

Jan. 6- Shelter Building
Jan. 27- Fire making and Cooking
Feb. 3- Fort King History
Feb. 24- Orienteering
Mar. 3- Leave No Trace/Edible Wild Plants
Mar. 24- Community Service Day
Apr. 7- Animal Program at the Discovery Center with the Animis Foundation
Apr. 28- Fishing and Kayaking
May 12- Overnight Camping at Ft. King
